WHO WE ARE
We are an independent kindergarten through sixth grade elementary school that offers an innovative curriculum. Our program engages students, speaks to their broad-ranging curiosities, and encourages creative and critical thinking, as well as collaboration and initiative. We not only provide a rigorous and rewarding academic experience for our students, we also nurture their development as caring and responsible human beings.

At the core of all that we do at Seven Arrows Elementary School is our hope for humanity. We want to make a difference in the world today, beginning with the education of children. We endeavor to make a positive difference in the world by guiding children to reach their full academic potential, and preparing them to become strong, contributing members of the global community.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The basic premise of a Seven Arrows Elementary School education lies in the belief that the most powerful force in education is a love of learning. We believe that education is more than simply a gathering and learning of facts. Effective education must involve a dynamic partnership among teachers, students, parents and the wider community. Our programs instill in each of our students a deep and lasting love of learning, the confidence to achieve one's best, and the knowledge that places one firmly on the road to a life full of purpose, meaning and endless opportunity. We believe it is vitally important that the primary impetus for learning comes from within the individual. It is our challenge, therefore, to organize and structure our programs in such a way as to fully engage every child. A UNIQUE EDUCATION

Our curriculum at Seven Arrows is both academically challenging and developmentally appropriate. We seamlessly integrate various pedagogical styles to best foster the intellectual, emotional and social development of the total child. In addition, our programs are infused with a multicultural awareness designed to engender a global perspective on learning. The result is an unusually rich curriculum that speaks to the broad-ranging curiosity of children, encourages creative thinking and promotes leadership. Although many lessons are taught to the class as a whole, students also work in small groups and one-on-one, to receive tailored instruction. Children move fluidly in and out of small ability-based groupings, allowing them to progress as they are able, rather than through a predetermined timeline. This enables us to match different learning styles and levels of understanding, ensuring that all students reach their full potential. Each classroom offers an intimate educational environment. Class sizes are kept to sixteen children and each teacher has a full time teaching assistant to promote individualized learning. The core curriculum consists of reading, language arts, mathematics, science and history. All students receive regular instruction by specialists in computer skills, fine arts, drama, music, dance, and physical education. In addition, Spanish is taught daily at all grade levels.

A RARE DEPTH OF UNDERSTANDING

At Seven Arrows, we recognize the importance of subject matter, but we also place a great deal of importance on how we teach our students. We make learning at Seven Arrows engaging, interesting and inspiring. Recognizing the differences in how each child absorbs and processes information allows us to design each lesson with many different perspectives in mind. When learning about a culture, such as that of ancient Egypt, mathematics, science, reading, writing and the arts are all integrated in the approach. The classroom is set in motion: children breathe history by creating pyramids or mummies; they live literature by reading stories and translations of ancient manuscripts or role-playing. They experience culture by eating native foods, creating art or designing a costume. Units are enriched and reinforced with field trips and presentations by classroom guests who are experts on the different subjects. We know that the most powerful and generative learning takes place when students are engaged intellectually and creatively, as opposed to being "fed" information. At Seven Arrows, each child is taught to solve problems, to think critically and creatively and to make decisions independently.
